About
G’day, I’m James
I’m a Kiwi who landed in Hyogo, Japan about 15 years ago and somehow never left. These days, you’ll find me teaching English at my school Talk’n’Chat, exploring the Kansai region on my Yamaha DragStar Classic, or figuring out what to cook with whatever local ingredients caught my eye at the market.
I started this blog to share my adventures – the rides, the random restaurants I discover, the camping trips, a bit of gardening, and whatever else makes up life here in Japan. Sometimes my son joins me on the road, and I’ll be throwing up links to videos when I get around to making them (no promises on production quality).
As a father and someone who believes everyone deserves a shot at learning English without breaking the bank, I try to keep my classes affordable and structured. We’ve had some brilliant students come through over the years – plenty of them topping their schools in English – which makes the job pretty rewarding.
This isn’t a professional travel blog or a foodie channel. It’s just me, living my best life in Japan, and sharing the bits worth remembering. If you’re into motorcycles, life in Hyogo, or just curious about what a New Zealander gets up to in the Japanese countryside, stick around.
Cheers,
James
